scanjet 6520
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The router is set for DHCP.

According to the router, the scanner get an IP address ( no scanner with it off, scanner +IP address (192.168.1.99) + says "connected "

The panel on the printer also says "connected " and  gives the same IP address (192.168.1.99)

windows10 cant find it ("no scanner attached ") and xsane/lubuntu says "no connected device"  by any protocol  wirth setting the correct IP address

Networking stuff

~$ sudo nmap -sS -P0 192.168.1.99

Starting Nmap 7.60 ( https://nmap.org ) at 2018-12-11 17:38 GMT
Nmap done: 1 IP address (0 hosts up) scanned in 0.52 seconds
~$

~$ ping 192.168.1.99
PING 192.168.1.99 (192.168.1.99) 56(84) bytes of data.
From 192.168.1.83 icmp_seq=1 Destination Host Unreachable
From 192.168.1.83 icmp_seq=2 Destination Host Unreachable
From 192.168.1.83 icmp_seq=3 Destination Host Unreachable

So its getting anIP address from the router,

the event log from the router

7:27:49, 11 Dec. (7206445.440000) Lease for IP 192.168.1.99 renewed by host scanner (MAC d8:9d:67:01:d6:ac). Lease duration: 1440 min 17:27:49, 11 Dec. (7206445.440000) Device connected: Hostname: scanner IP: 192.168.1.99 MAC: d8:9d:67:01:d6:ac Lease time: 1440 min. Link rate: 52.0 Mbps

but  not available from the rest of the LAN

Its not a windows or linu thing - its affecting both .

and ive now download the latest version of hplip and executed

./hplip-3.18.12.run and it detects  the printer/scanner at the correct IP address.

But when i unplug the USB and go through the wireless setup (hp-setup 192.168.1.99)  , it says it cant find it .

So the printer is getting an IP address from the router . But not communicating with the rest of the network.

how do fix this?

telnet?

serial connection ?

something else?
