Scanner stopped scanning colors and is only scanning in B&W

Basically my scanner suddenly stopped scanning colors and will only scanned any photo as B&W

The software I am using on my Mac OS 10.6.8 is "HP Scan 4.3.10 (152)"

I searched all tips and found no mention of such an issue.  

Please advise me how to fix it.  I am in the middle of creating an album and need to scan lots of photos.

Adjusting the scan settings may resolve the issue, let's use HP Easy Scan application and adjust color settings.

1.) Download and install HP Easy Scan from here.

2.) Open HP Easy Scan.

3.) Click Presets and select Edit Settings.

4.) Click Type and select Picture, then click Mode and select Color.

5.) Click Done and then click Scan.

Senan6806 HP Support Agent gave me instructions but I could not follow them

1.) Download and install HP Easy Scan from here.--Not possible to download into this version of OS and it cannot be upgraded.

2.) Open HP Easy Scan.

3.) Click Presets and select Edit Settings.

 Any other fixing tips? It really happened overnight.  One day it was ok and the other day it stopped scanning in color
