Hi Hope someone can help. My printer/scanner, HP LaserJet Pro MFP M28w, worked well, and suddenly it gives fuzzy scans. This is after I updated the drivers. Maybe it's a coincidence. It photocopies fine. When I use the HP desktop app, it hangs a lot, spinning ball of doom, etc., options in the "advanced" settings are greyed out, and then scans very fuzzy. It always reverts to settings I haven't chosen, and forces me to force me to the "detect edges" page. I've updated the drivers, checked that 3 times; turned my computer on and off twice, unplugged the printer, turned it on and off several times, checked connections. At a loss. I've used it lightly for 16 months. Really light. Maybe 1000 pages max. It seems like these machines are close to disposable. Any suggestions to save this machine from the recycling facility? Argh. So fed up. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Uninstall and reinstall the HP Smart App and see if that helps: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_2073929-1413451-16
Else you can use other scanning software: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_2275901-2074064-16 (FAQ section)
Let me know if this helps.

Betty, thanks very much for the workaround. I do appreciate you replying with these suggestions.
I will say this though, not to you personally, Betty, as an employee, but to the HP company and all other tech companies that line their pockets and their shareholders' pockets with built-in obsolescence : the idea that I spent $200 last year on a printer that HP was very happy to sell me, and that they already do not support with their "smart app" is appalling. And that their app is not capable of supporting this $200 piece of hardware rates zero out of ten for "HP Smart". I'd call that "HP Dumb" or "HP Morally Bankrupt". Either way, not good. I'm sick of buying printers to solve a software problem. And the planet is also sick of all this hardware going to landfill or being slightly recycled. Wake up HP. We're all sick of companies like yours and others that do the wrong thing. Do the right thing for a change. Update your buggy software to support your hardware.
