Product: HP All-In-One 1300 series
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan

Recently changed the black cartridge,  didn't work at first, but tured it off for a few days and printer started working, but scanner won't work. Utility status shows Idle.  Deledted the printer on Printer& scanner and created a new one, but still won't work.

Welcome to the HP Forums. I would be happy to help you with your HP PSC 1300 series Printer. I understand that you are unable to scan and you have already done some preliminary troubleshooting.

 

Don't worry though as I have a few steps to determine the issue and find a solution as well,

  • If you are unable to scan from printer control panel, follow the below steps to fix the issue.
  • Uninstall the printer software again.
  • Install the latest print driver for Sierra.
  • Restart the Mac.
  • Make sure Scan to Computer is enabled.
  • Run Apple Software Update.
