I can scan not problem, but the slides are too dark with a normal scan run, I think if the light would back light the slide then I could enlarge it for printing, but there is no "slide" feature to scan, it's either Document or Picture... anyone figure out how to scan a color slide yet?

This method has been around for a while - looks like the website was recently updated (2019)

HP Envy 4520 does NOT support scan slides nor negatives you need a right transparent materials adaptor, or TMA to be able to scan slides and negatives. HP does not produce TMA for your printer.

Yesterday I bought the following one

         https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/qpix-photo-standalone-film-and-print-scanner-bcps9...

It's not great, very quick to scan and don't need a computer. Prepare negatives to scan is not ideal.

Thanks Dragon Fur... that's clever.

you know my last printer actually had a special tray to hold and scan strips of negatives... and I think slides but I can't remember for sure on that. I know it did negatives and I was able to preserve many of my old ones. This slide is for my 74 year old neighbor. I checked and Walgreens used to do this, but I went there today and the guy said they just quit doing it about 3 months ago!
