I am trying to set up my OfficeJet 5200 to scan using only the printer's touchscreen interface.  My goal is to place a set of documents in the scanner feed, click Scan (or whatever), and go to my computer and find the scanned images somewhere.  Is this possible?

WebScan doesn't do it because I need to initial the connection from my computer.

SmartApp (scan to email) also requires me to initiate the scan from my computer.

Scan to Computer (from the printer touchscreen) meets me halfway, but will prompt me on my computer for what to do.  Perhaps there is a way to automate this on my Windows laptop so any scan to my computer puts the files in a specific folder?

@KernelAkkitt, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Use the Destination section in HP Scan to find or change where your scan files are saved.

NOTE:

If you are scanning from the printer control panel, use HP Scan to find the default folder your scans are saved to.

  1. In HP Scan, select a Save as shortcut, and then click More.

  2. Click the Destination tab.

The folder your scans save to displays under Save To Folder.

Finding the folder scans are saved to

  3. To change the default folder, click Browse.

  4. Navigate to the folder you want to save your scans to, and then click OK.

  5. To save the new folder as the default location for the shortcut, click the Save icon  next to the shortcut.

  6. Repeat these steps for any other Save as shortcuts.

Thank you for the response!  When you say "HP Scan", I assume you mean "HP Scan and Capture" that is available on the Windows Store.  This seems to be the only option available when I search for "HP Scan" on the hp.com site.  Unfortunately, HP Scan and Capture doesn't have the interface you posted.  I changed the settings in HP Scan and Capture to similar ones (using my current HP 5200 device), but when I scan from my HP 5200 to my desktop, it still just opens a prompt asking which default Windows app should accept the scan (HP Scan and Capture isn't an option).

HP Scan is included in the full-featured software package for the printer. Use this link to download and install the new driver. Configure the printer and try scanning.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
