Hi @Tansie,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you would like to know how to combine a multi-page document into a single file. I would like to assist you with this.
I would try the steps within this guide, HP Multi-Function Printers - How to Scan: Mac OS X v10.6.
How to scan a multi-page original into a single file
NOTE: The HP software does not support scanning multiple photos into a single file.
NOTE: If your printer does not have an ADF and you are scanning a multi-page document, you will need to load each page on the scanner glass one at a time to scan the document.
- Make sure the printer is turned on and that it is connected to the computer.
- Load the document.
- Scanner glassPlace the document print side down on the scanner glass, and then position it according to the guides around the glass (usually on the right-front corner or the left-front corner). Close the scanner lid.
- ADFPlace a single-page or multi-page document into the ADF tray. The printed side faces up and the top edge goes into the tray first. Adjust the width guides to fit the document.
- What version of HP Scan software do I have?Follow these steps to see what version of HP Scan software you have installed on your computer.
- Open Finder, and then go to Macintosh HD/Applications/Hewlett-Packard.
- Right-click or CTRL-click the HP Scan Software icon, and then click Get Info.
- Locate the version number in the General properties in the HP Scan Software Info window.
- Go to Macintosh HD/Applications/Hewlett-Packard, and then double-click the HP Scan Software icon.
- Click the Scan Settings icon in the lower left corner of the window.Figure : Scan Settings icon
- Click the pop-up menu at the top of the Settings section, and then select Documents, Pictures, or Last Used Settings.
- Click Edit... to view and change any scan settings.
- Click Scan to start the scan.
- When the scan completes, you have the option to either click Done, or place the next page on the scanner glass and click Scan again. Repeat this step until all pages are scanned, and then click Done.
- Click Save to name the file, and then save it to your computer.
- Click the Format drop-down menu, and then select PDF.
- Check the box to Save all items to a single file, and then click Save.
- Go to Macintosh HD/Applications/Hewlett-Packard, and then double-click the HP Scan Software icon.
- Click Scan... in the upper right corner of the window.
- Click the Down arrow (
) to view and change any scan settings.
- To save any scan settings for a future scan job, click the pop-up menu next to Presets, click Save as..., name the new preset, and then click OK.
- Click OK to start the scan.
- After the first page is scanned, the computer message prompts, "Scan completed: More to scan? Place the next item on the scanner now." Load the next page on the scanner bed, and then select Scan the next item.
NOTE: Repeat this step until all pages are scanned, and then click Done.
- Click Send, click Folder, name your file, and then save the file to the computer.
- Click the Format drop-down menu, select Contents, and then check the box to Save all items to a single file.
- Click Save.
