Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

Since yesterday - my scanner appears to be working correctly in that it confirms that  the documents I scan have been correctly sent to my hotmail account. However those emails are not being received. My hotmail account is receiving other emails, and I have also checked my scam/junk mail folder. I tried to send the emails to my gmail account but that required a pin number which was not being received in that account (again, checked scam and junk)!

I would also appreciate advice as to how to scan to a memory stick as I am not used to using them. (the scan to computer is not activated and although I have tried to activate it, its still not working)

@Gwinful,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

This is a wonderful place to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips.

I'll be glad to help you 🙂

There is an issue with the Scan to Email service that is affecting some of its users. We are actively investigating and will provide an update as soon as it is available. We apologize for any inconvenience this is causing.

While we're investigating this issue, you can try using the HP Smart app to scan from your printer's scanner to email. This will provide the same capability as the scan to email app on the printer, but you can complete the scan on the printer and send the email from the HP Smart app on your mobile device. (You can also upload the scanned item to your cloud storage accounts.)  Not all HP printers are supported for pagehttps://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03722645 The HP Smart app also provides an option to use your mobile device to capture images and documents and email them that may be useful.  scan from the printer - you can check printer compatibility w/the HP Smart app here on this support

Follow the steps in the below article to how to use HP smart app.

Hello The_Fossette. I am having this issue too with two separate HP printers. The "Scan to e-mail" function appears to work without error, but the e-mails never appear in the user's mailbox.

Could you PM me with details of what exactly the issue with the Scan to Email service is, what has caused it, and how long it will be until the issue is resolved? Thank you.

Welcome to HP forums, I see that you are unable to do a scan to email.

Update the firmware on the printer.

Refer this HP document to update the printer firmware:- Click here

Assigning the manual IP address to the printer.

  • Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to get the IP address.
  • Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
  • Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.
  • Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
  • Click on the radio button which says, “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
  • Click on radio button which says, “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)
  • Restart the printer and then router once done.

Let me know how it goes.

If this helps, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

The firmware is up to date and the IP settings are correct.

As The_Fosette stated, there is apparently a widespread issue with the scan to e-mail function causing this behaviour. If you could give details of the issue and when a fix will be implemented that would be great.

Thanks for the reply.

I appreciate your time and effort.

There was an issue with the server connection which was causing this issue, which has been taken care.

Restart your printer and check if that works fine now.

I implemented some lengthy steps from an hp support tech this morning to no avail. Still not receiving the required 4 digit pin code via email for the printer. Printer is connected and web feature is "on". Patient in Portland.

Thanks for previous advice re scanning to email - problem seems to be resolved, but would like advice as to how to scan to memory stick/flashdrive. I have officejet 5740, and when I select scan/memory device I get the message "insert...flashdrive into walkup USB port " - not sure where this is on the device. Found one at back but still keep getting same message.

advice would be appreciated!
