I have the same issue with my my HP Officeject 7410 All-in-One Printer. The update for Sierra 10.12.1 did not fix the issue. The HP driver page for the 7410 only goes up to Mac OS 10 .11. So no update there.
The ONLY solution that works for me is the VuScan software. But I don't love the idea of spending $50 to a fix somethig that should be fixed by Apple and HP.
I wish HP would at least give some feedback on this. If I knew they aware of the issue and workig on it, I'd be happy to wait. Or tell me my printer will not be updated. Just please tell me something.

Well yes HP should be doing something, somewhere...............It appears that it isn't OSX 10. 12 that's the problem, my partner is running OSX 10. 11 on our network and has exactly the same problems.
However HP has amazingly done something! I started this thread as a student, and now after slagging them off and recommending Epson, they have made me a Tutor! To me this shows how incompetent HP are, if they allow this to provide honest feedback, then you'd be forgiven for thinking they'd have joined the conversation to defend themselves?
For 20 odd years I have only ever had HP printers, & I always thought that they supported customers, now they just seem to be another arrogant giant corporation, who couldn't care less what happens to it's customers.
Tutor indeed..................

Try this
Open your browser, Safari or what ever, type in the IP address to the scanner/printer. Like 192.168.1.111. Now you might have a internet interface that allows you to do the scanning using that interface.
Or
download VueScan from www.hamrick.com they have a free download that puts a watermark on the scanned image/document. If you like it, you can buy it. This software supports more than 3.000 models of scanners and it offers a lot of settings and OCR scanning. I like the pro version, it works for me.

I agree that vuescan does the job, however at a cost well beyond what I need. Before I invest $89 or even $49 I probably will buy a new all in one and forget that HP POORLY supports its products!
How can I locate the IP address of my scanner? Tried suggestions on Internet, but could not find it.

Hey there,
I found a solution that circumvents this problem . I also found that it was impossible to save scanned documents after upgrading to OS Sierra as the save button was grayed out. Go to the launch pad, open HP scan, then click on "HP scan" on the horizontal tool bar at the top of the mac. Under "HP scan" then click "Preferences". Once the window pops up the click "Scan to computer". Now before going any further, load the documents you want to scan on the HP scanner, then click "save as PDF", then click "test" at the bottom. This will initiate the HP scanner to scan the document, and then a window will pop up that highlights the newly scanned document. You can then click on and drag the document over to your desktop. Note that you also have the option to save as JPEG. Also you can also choose to "email as JPEG or PDF". This will then open up an email window, with the scanned document appearing as an attachment. If you have email set up on mac, this can work perfectly to send scanned documents to someone else or to yourself and then save it that way. Even if you do not have email set up, you can still choose this option. Just click on the document that appears in the open email window and drag it out to the desktop and then exit the email window.
Hope this helps.

Cannot get Easy Scan or HP Scan to evewn recognize the scanner. Your process would be doable if there was a recognized connection. I am tired of HP and thir lack of customer support. I called them about this issue and they told me to buy a new printer.....Any suggestion for a good NON HP all in one printer under $200.
