I recently switched from the 8710 Officejet to the 9015e printer but now I can print to the computer without going to the computer and opening the HP Smart app to start the scan. Before I was just able to start the scan from the printer and send it to the computer to a folder without having to be at my computer or opening the HP Smart app.
this is a problem and seems to FORCE a user into a bad experience. Help please - need help for Mac and Windows computers

If you go to support.hp.com you can download offline use installation. Keep in mind you still have to have the printer connected to the internet to maintain communication.
I am a volunteer, offering my knowledge to support fellow users, I do not work for HP nor speak for HP.

simply going to the url provided does not show what you are asking me to download - can you just provide a link for the Mac please? I was able to get a link for Windows and now I can scan from the printer without the Smart app on the Windows machine but not the Mac.
Separate problem - when I scan to my windows machine it is taking the scanned file and making that a jpg not a PDF - why and how do I get it to do PDF? Also, can I indicate which folder I want it to go into on my PC? If so where do I do that?
Lastly, when I got into the printer settings as an admin and click "scan to computer" it gives me an option to click "webscan" but when I click it this is the response I get - "You cannot use this function because it has been disabled. For more information, contact the person who set up the printer." But I am the person that set up the computer and I did not turn this off so how do I get it activated??

Hi,
Scan to Computer is only offered for Windows PCs, it is not supported on Mac computers for any current HP printer.
You do have some alternatives which allow scanning from the printer front panel.
First, you may use the Shortcuts feature of the HP Smart app to scan from the printer, be sure to review the relevant information on Step 3 to scan from printer front panel:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_4129352-4129404-16
Scanning to a Network Folder or Email would also be another options to scan from your printer screen to a folder on your Mac or to your Email:
Set up and use a Scan to Network Folder

Hi,
For a Windows PC, let's download and install the latest HP Full Feature Software:
Once completing the installation open the HP{ Software, under scan click on Manage Scan to Computer and ensure the feature is enabled, review the exact name listed to select on the printer and use it instead, what you describe is WSD scanning which is offered by Windows and does not support PDF scanning, you should only select your PC name and not its WSD shortcut (click Scan > Computer and then select "PC NAME" for an example, and not "Save to PC Name")

Please clarify "Didn't work" with some more details to be able to assist you further, be sure to clarify the exact error or behavior as detailed as possible.
Were you able to install the software or got any specific error in the process?
Do you have an HP Officejet Pro 9010 icon on your desktop? can you open its software?
Are you able to launch Manage Scan to Computer? can you see it is enabled or may see any error there?
Be sure to clarify what exact error or behavior occur to better understand the problem
