Hi @Sam1405,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP ENVY 6020 All-in-One Printer is unable to scan and gives a "scanner is busy" message, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.
Restart Devices
- Turn off your printer, laptop, and router for a few minutes.
- Turn the router back on first, wait until it's fully connected, then turn on the printer and laptop.
Check the Scanner Driver
- Ensure you have the latest scanner driver and firmware installed.
- Visit the HP Support website to download and install any available updates for the HP ENVY 6020.
- Uninstall and reinstall the HP Smart app to refresh the drivers.
Scan Using HP Smart App
- Open the HP Smart app on your laptop.
- Navigate to Scan, and try scanning from there instead of directly from the printer’s control panel.
Check for Pending Print Jobs
- Sometimes a pending or stuck print job may cause the scanner to be busy.
- Open the print queue on your laptop and make sure there are no active or paused print jobs.
Run HP Print and Scan Doctor
- Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor to automatically detect and fix scanning issues.
- You can get it from HP's official website.
Check Scanner Settings
- Open the HP Printer Assistant software on your laptop and navigate to the Scan settings. Verify that all scanner options are properly configured.
Disable Security Software
- Temporarily disable any firewall or antivirus software on your laptop, as these can sometimes block scanning functionality.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
