Hello there, I am happy that you all experienced the same frustrations and confusing issues with scanning. I am new to Mac so I can not navigate well yet to understand how I can reset my email and password, could somebody walk me through it? I am crunched for time and can't believe this is happening durning tax season? Just out of the clear blue sky. I do not want to delete my printers because I have 2 others in my building and that would be a mess, the virtual hp robot was no help. I appreciate your time.

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the "User name password incorrect " issue.
May I have the exact model name of the product? Refer to this document for steps to find the product details. Do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc.
What is the mac os version on your computer?

I need a solution to this, I have a Printer HP Color LaserJet MFP M477fnw that display Username and password incorrect whenever I want to scan to my Boss email.But its was working perfectly before now..Can one help me

Have you updated the scan to email settings and added your new password? When first setup, you would have had to add this information through the embedded web server of the printer? It will either be the email defaults or your email profile depending on how you originally configured the settings.

No help here, but the same thing happened to me! I deleted all HP software from my Mac. Did a factory reset on the HP printer. Re-installed the HP printer software and got the same thing all over again. It was a back and forth thing with HP support. They do not have a clue and keep saying "Have a great day!" NOT!

Same thing happened to me today. Scanner function on MFP M277dw worked perfectly for a year and then refused to scan to email citing "password or username not correct". I was able to resolve this in two different ways.
(1) I created a new outgoing email profile using my Yahoo email account instead of Gmail. This made me understand that it was a Gmail issue.
(2) So I went into my Gmail settings. I verified that the "2 step verification" was turned off and then I tried turning ON the "Less secure app access" under Security tab. THIS ACTUALLY WORKED and now I have two ways to continue scanning to my email.
