macOS 12.0 Monterey

Every time I scan a document, it attaches itself to all documents I have scanned in the past.  I want to scan several documents at once but make then their own file, not attached to other scans.

I have a MacBook Pro running Sonoma 14.1.2 and an HP OfficeJet Pro 9018.

Hi @PHDProps,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you are experiencing an issue with your scanning settings, and the scanned documents are being merged into a single file instead of being saved as individual files. Here are some steps you can take to resolve this issue.

Check Scanner Settings:

Open HP Easy Scan:

  • Launch the HP Easy Scan application on your MacBook Pro.
  • Ensure that your HP OfficeJet Pro 9018 is selected as the scanning device.

Check Settings:

  • Look for an option that specifies whether to save each page as a separate file.
  • Make sure the setting is configured to create individual files for each scanned document.

File Format and Naming:

File Format:

  • Ensure that you are saving the scanned documents in a format that supports multiple pages but saves them as separate files (e.g., PDF).

Naming Options:

  • Check if there are options to customize the naming convention for scanned files. Make sure it includes a variable that changes for each document.

Save Location:

  1. Choose a Specific Folder:
    • Select a specific folder on your computer where you want the scanned files to be saved.
    • Make sure the setting is not set to overwrite existing files or save in a common folder.

Update Software:

  1. Check for Updates:
    • Ensure that your HP Easy Scan software is up to date. Check for updates on the HP website or through the App Store.

Additional Tips:

Batch Scanning:

  • If you are scanning multiple documents at once, ensure that the batch scanning mode is enabled if your scanner supports it.

Scanner User Manual:

  • Refer to the user manual of your HP OfficeJet Pro 9018 for specific instructions on scanning settings and troubleshooting.

By checking and adjusting these settings, you should be able to scan multiple documents and save them as separate files without them being attached to each other.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
