Wont scan BUT when i look in VIEW DEVICES AND PRINTER It does windows own one

HP Deskjet 2700, on installation, goes fine, but when I want a SCAN I click on the little scan button and it doesn't do a thing matter how many times I press it. The only way I can get a scan Is  DEVICES AND PRINTERS, which is part of windows itself and make a shortcut from there. I have tried 20+ times and have got 7 different HP 2700. and they all gave the same answer, The icon just sits there, you get the blue circle as you click it but that just says "I don't go". I think there is something wrong with the settings that let it goes ahead. On the PRINT SCAN DOCTOR, It starts to get going on the first page then stops at a fault page "you are not connected to a network, Click on the USB YOU WANT" BUT THERE ARNT ANY USB ON THE PAGE. At the bottom of the page, "my page is not listed" is on the left, and "next" is on the right. On the HPSCAN.EXE it does the same. The only prog I can get to run on it though is the first one I ever had, the others all stalled at the same place. It is something o do with it recognise in/out somehow, but im blowed if i know.

Windows version not provided - Assuming Windows 10

Were it mine to do,

Consider:  Restart everything, including the router that controls your network

Open Control Panel > icon view > Programs and Features

If the printer software shows installed (but you have been unable to use it)

Uninstall the printer software.

If there are "help" files associated with the printer (in Programs and Features), uninstall those as well.

Open Devices and Printers,

Right-Click on every one of the 2700 (27xx)  printers and Remove

After you have removed the printers from the list of devices,

Restart the computer and log in

You'll need to decide how you are going to connect the printer -

Printer supports Wireless or USB.

• Read FAQ -  including - What are the requirements to set up a printer using the HP Smart app?
• Disconnect from Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection before downloading.
• Turn on Wi-Fi on your computer or mobile device and connect to your network. If the computer is connected to the network with an Ethernet cable, temporarily disconnect the cable and use the Wi-Fi connection during the setup.

• HP Smart requires that you sign into the application using your HP Account credentials.

(Note:  Chrome not working?  Use / Assign a different default browser.)
• Where possible, HP Smart benefits (likes) having the Full Feature Software / full driver printer software installed.  For example, full driver provides access to Shortcuts and Printing Preferences.
• “Share” to email – Before using Share, add your sender email address to the Windows Mail application

That's good someone who knows about it, thank you, I have got WINDOWS 7 up to date BUT unless there is something I cant understand, I should be able to do it anyway thank you again. I'll let you know how I got on.
