can i do 2 sided scanning using scan to email app

i have a 6978 printer which has the two sided document feeder. if i put a two sided document in the feeder and use the hp smart scan application on my computer i can specify 2 sided scanning and all works well. however, if use the scan to email app that is built into the printer i can only scan on one side. that works, but i would like to scan a 2 sided document using the scan to email app. i can't find any way to do this? what am i missing?

"On Printer" Scan to Email is perhaps not as smart (no pun intended) as the applications and software you use on your computer for the same task.

If you can use HP Smart (Windows) to scan two-sided to your computer,

Try / Consider

HP Smart (Windows) to Scan > optionally Edit content > Done  > Share (to email).

HP Scan - Part of the Full Feature Software -

Add your sender's email address to your installed Outlook mail client software

Use HP Scan to send your scan content to the recipient(s) of your choice

Select Shortcut "Email as PDF"

After the printer software is installed, Restart the computer and sign in.
