I have had this machine and set-up for over a year, no problems sending or receiving faxes.

Now I can no longer receive faxes, error message says Fax Receive Fail but the LED screen lights up and shows an incoming call.

I was able to receive three test faxes from three different location last Fri, Sat and Sun but today no incoming faxes from two different locations. If i call the fax number, I hear a fax sound and the LED lights up with the incoming number but the fax machine makes no sound like it used to when preparing to print a fax?

@FWofMYT, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

 

I understand you are not able to receive faxes. Let us try these steps:

 

Check the connections. Make sure the phone line is working.

 

Run a fax test

  1. On the control panel, touch Fax.

  2. Touch Setup, touch Tools, and then touch Run Fax Test.

    A Fax Test Report prints. Check for any errors.

Send a test fax to HP to check

  1. Send the test fax to 1-**bleep**-HPFaxme (1-**bleep**-473-2963 U.S.).

  2. Wait 5 to 7 minutes for the service to send a return fax.

If a fax is not received after 10 minutes, check fax settings and try again.
