The COPY setting default is 2-sided - how can i change it back to 1-sided? (This printer/copier/fax machine is used by both PC & Mac products, if that matters).

I know how to change the printer settings on my PC but cannot figure out how to change the COPY settings. HELP!

Every time we COPY anything we have to adjust to 1-sided copying.

Hello suepehr, and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!

I see you are looking into your copy settings.  I would like to help!

I would recommend selecting copy on the front panel of the printer, and selecting settings.  Under settings, select 1:1 (one sided copy, one sided original).  Then, scroll down through the copy settings menu, and select save as new default. That should set up the printer to do default one sided copies.

Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

When I go to the copy settings it has 1:2 but nothing I do allows me to change it to 1:1

I've wondered the same for 2 years now!  The HP Officejet Pro 8600 seems to NOt let you change away from from "Two-Sided" Copying.  The touch screen will NOT let you select away from "Two-Sided" copying to "One-Sided" copying, so I have to hit the red X to the side of the touch screen to cancel every 2nd page when I want to copy something.  It's so annoying!

Jamieson,

Thanks for trying, but your solution does NOT work on the HP Officejet Pro 8600.  When one tries to COPY, then touches SETTINGS, it seems to only give the illusion that you can select away from "Two-Sided 1:2" to "One-Sided 1:1" but it really does NOT.

If one wants to make multiple COPIES a single page they have to sit close by the HP Officejet Pro 8600 and hit the red X to the side of the touchscreen to cancel the backside after every single copy one wants to make.  Please help if you can.  I will call HP Tech support tomorrow.

To all,

After resetting my HP Officejet Pro 8600 and after many trials, I finally figured out how to switch from "Two-Sided 1:2" copying to "One-Sided 1:1" copying  .  After touching "Copy" then "Settings" and then either "Two-Sided 1:2" or "one-Sided 1:1" which ever is displayed,  you CANNOT USE THE TOUCHSCREEN to switch between the two, as the touchscreen suggests to all.  You  press the  ARROW displayed to the LEFT of the touchscreen to change from 1:2 sided to 1:1 sided copying and choose the ARROW displayed to the RIGHT of the touchscreen to change 1:1 sided to 1:2 sided copying back the other way, which ever arrow is displayed.

In copy settings, when you touch "two-sided 1.1" it indicates with a check mark- 1 sided originial/ 1 sided copy.

Touched "Set as New Defaults", but still prints two sides to a one sided copy?

Tried to reinstall to no avail.  Anyone else have this problem?

Though the 1 sided original/ 1 sided copy is checked off, it still is printing on both sides.  Just what I need, a printer with attitude:")  Any suggestions?

Sorry- that solution doesn't work.  Everything is checked off correctly, but printer still prints on two sides  for a one sided original.  Help, please if you can....
