Hello @kmcmullin, Greetings!
Thanks for accessing the HP Support Forums for extra support! I see that you are trying to do a duplex scanning. I will do my best to assist you with this issue.
In order to scan on both sides, you need to use the “document feeder” which is at the top of the printer. Load the documents that you want to scan in the feeder and then either use the “HP Scan” software at your computer or choose the scan option on the printer and then select settings and specify 2-sided.
You do not have specified the operating system on your computer. Please provide me the operating system you are using to provide you with specific steps.
Alternatively, if you are using Windows OS, please check http://hp.care/2cDh6jp and if you are using MAC please check: http://hp.care/2c8ckuS
Let me know how that goes. Thank you!
Cheers 🙂

Hello and thank you for your response. Your solution does not work. I did finally find the way to duplex scan;
Scan
Scan to Network Folder
Folder Name
Settings
Scan Source
Document Feeder
2-sided
It took me hours of researching on-line, in the HP on-line manuals, help pages, etc. without finding a solution to this. And, now that I've found it, it is seven layers deep! There should be a much easier way of finding this information and yet nowhere in all of the HP information does it tell you how to duplex scan.

Make sure the path is in the correct format. No spaces are allowed in the path. Example:
GOOD: \\MYPC\Users\harry\Documents\HPscans
BAD: \\MYPC\Users\harry\Documents\HP scans
Unfortunately the error message does not tell you what is wrong. Also, confirm your user account and password for the computer is correct. Both of these problems came up in my setup.

Windows 10 go to app store seach and download "HP Scan and Capture". Once installed click on "Capture Documents" then locate "Settings" in the bottom right toolbar. Change "Document Scan Options" duplex scan to two sided. Piece of cake.
