Hi

When Scanning the document feeder tried to collect a page from the feeder but immediately reports an error, when I have checked the document feeder there is no page stuck in the feeder nor are there any foreign objects obstructing the paper. I have updated the drivers and the firmware and this has not made any improvement to the scanning. If I just place the paper on the scanner glass then it scans without a problem but I have a 100 page document that I need to scan and I don’t really want to do that manually.

I also have a stock of the cartridges required for the printer and these are only for this printer so I would like to see if I can buy some parts to fix the issue.

Any advice?

Dave

@P1_Dave Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you are getting a document feeder jam while scanning.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Do you see any jam in the ADF?

Are you facing this issue after an update?

I suggest you do a Hard Reset

(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.

(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.

(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Hi

Thank you so much for getting back to me.

When I check the document feeder there is no jammed paper or foreign objects in the feeder, so I am confused why this is happening.

I do not believe that this is a result of an update, but I have updated the firmware on the printer and the drivers on my computer to ensure that I am using the latest software.

I have also carried out a hard reset on the printer, I have reviewed a number of common posts on here and carried out everything they have suggested but I still have the issue.

When trying to scan the document feeder does try to grab a piece of paper, but it doesnt try for very long before it throws the document Jam error, I am wondering if it is to do with the rollers and then not picking the paper up?

Unfortunately my printer/scanner is out of warranty and there isnt an option to extend it, I have tried, is there a way I can find out what parts I need to buy to mend this and mend it myself or pay someone to mend it for me?
