Hi @davy6,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I know how frustrating it can be when your HP printer refuses to scan, especially when everything else seems to be working fine. Let’s get this sorted out together.

Let’s Start With the Basics

1. Check the Connection

  • If you're using a USB, make sure the cable is securely connected to both the printer and your computer.
  • If you're using Wi-Fi, ensure both the printer and your computer are on the same network.

2. Restart Devices

  • Power off your printer and computer.
  • Wait 30 seconds, then power them back on.

3. Use HP App

  • Open the HP app on your computer.
  • If your printer is listed, click Scan.
  • If not, click Add Printer and follow the prompts.

4. Check Windows Services

Sometimes the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service is disabled:

  • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  • Find Windows Image Acquisition (WIA).
  • Make sure it’s running and set to Automatic.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
