@Jasoncc77

Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to assist.

I understand that you have an HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer. I read that when you try to scan to an email an error appears saying that ""Username or password is incorrect. Make sure both username and account are valid". Not worry, I'll do my best to help you.

Let us check if the scan to email settings are alright in the printer's EWS (Embedded Web Server page):

  • Print a network configuration page. On that page the printer's IP address will be printed:

  • Open a web browser and type the printer's IP address into the address bar and hit enter. This should open the printer's home page in your web browser.
  • Please look for the scan to email settings in the web browser and ensure that they are setup correctly.
  • Your email service might block or quarantine the email from eprintcenter@hp.com as spam. If the email is in your spam folder, unblock eprintcenter@hp.com or mark it as an allowed sender.

  • Scan to email might fail with certain email service providers. Try using a different email account to send the scan to.

If the issue persists then please follow the below steps:

Use the Scan to Email Wizard in HP Utility to set up the Scan to Email feature.

  1. Use one of the following methods to open HP Utility.

    • On the Dock, click the HP Utility icon.

    • Double-click the hard drive icon, click Applications, double-click the HP folder, and then double-click HP Utility.

  2. Click Scan to Email, and then click Begin Scan to E-mail Setup. The printer's Embedded Web Server launches in a new window.

NOTE: If a 'Safari can’t verify the identity of the website' message displays, click Continue.

  3. Click the Scan tab, and then click Scan to E-mail Setup.

  4. Click Outgoing E-mail Profile.

  5. Click New, and then enter your email address.

  6. Enter an email profile display name. This is the name that will display on the printer control panel for the email profile.

  7. Enter or confirm the correct SMTP server and SMTP port information.

  8. If you typically need to enter a user name and password to log into your email account, enter that information into the email authentication fields, and then click Next.

  9. Enter a security pin to restrict access to this email profile from the printer control panel, if desired.

  10. Set the size for email files and specify Auto CC, if desired.

  11. Click Save and test or Save to complete the email profile configuration.

I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Let me know the outcome. Cheers! 🙂

How can we go into scan email set up wizard if we cannot log in? The problem is we cannot log in to access any of the tools to fix the problem. I never had this problem before and can only ascertain it is due to some malconfigured update. I put in my username and password and it will not accept it. A pop up shows to log in. I am unsure if it is HP or if it is from the browser. I tried both Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome to see if it was just Edge, and both pop up a log in window that will not accept my username and password. How do we get around this issue?
