Got this printer a couple of weeks ago and have no problem when printing. Issue arose when trying to scan for the first time.
When I open the scan utility, I get the error message of "The HP LJ Pro M148M149 was not found".
I downloaded the Print and Scan Doctor utility 5.2. It runs and finds my printer showing both USB and wireless connections. I run the utility to fix scan issues. As it runs through its diagnostics, I can here the scanner bar operating. It finishes and prompts to scan a test page. As soon as I click that, I get the error message of "not found" all over again.
I have tried this with both the USB and wireless connections. I have powered down and restarted both the printer and my computer. Checked for driver updates and it says I have the latest.
Again, no problems with printing, only get the "not found" error when trying to scan.
Please help!

This seems to be an issue with the OS on your desktop
I suggest you run an SFC Scan on your Windows 10
To run a system file check (SFC)
- Go to start>Type CMD
- Right click and run as Administrator
- If you want to verify and repair the OS type sfc /scannow (note the space between sfc and "/")
You might have to run the SFC scan up to 3 times and if the issue persists run the DISM command as instructed in this Link: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-update/system-file-check-sfc-scan-and-r...
Next restart the computer and try uninstalling the Full Feature Software from Root level as instructed earlier and then download the Full feature Software again
Keep me posted 😊

Welcome to HP Support Community
I suggest you uninstall the printer driver from root level and download the full feature software
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’
6.) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
8.) Click on the “Drivers” tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
13.) Restart the computer and download the Full Feature Software from Here and follow the onscreen Instructions
Keep me posted how it goes
Thank you and have a great day 😊

That did not go well at all.
I got to step 5 where I deleted the device.
After going to printui.exe /s and brining up the "Drivers" tab, it would not let me remove the driver saying the device was in use. No programs were open and I even turned off the printer. I tried rebooting but when going back to that point, I would still get the message that the device was in use.
I downloaded and intalled the Full Feature Software anyway. After going through all this, I still got the same error message as before that the device was not found. In addition, I had lost the capability to automatically duplex print. In a previous thread, an agent had guided me to install the option to automatically duplex print. With this new software, this option was gone and going through the procedure to install it did not work.
I did a system restore to get back to where I started from.
Any other options to try? Thank you.

Please download the HP Smart App or the HP Scan and Capture for scanning. Please refer to the Links below

Thank you for your reply.
Since my last message, I had found the HP Smart App and can scan using that although it appears the settings are somewhat constrained using that app. I tried the HP Scan and Capture app you suggested. It connects and can hear the scanner bar moving, but then it hangs up and no image actually appears.
I have been attempting all this on my desktop since that is my usual source for my needs. I was able to download and use the full featured app on my laptop and it works fine. So I can always use that in a pinch, just wishing I could get it working on my desktop.

This happens to me every time I use my G4010 scanner. I delete, reinstall, reboot, mow the lawn and all sorts of other weird stuff to get the scanner working. I come back a couple of days later and have to do it all over again. This is not an acceptable solution.
