I just set up my HP OfficeJet Pro 8025. I scan a page to my email. The Pdf background is dark and it makes the Pdf difficult to read and I believe it will print dark. Other printers that I have used the pdf scans were as white as the paper that was scanned. How can I correct this? I can't find anywhere to adjust print/scan brightness or page size either.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Does this happen while scanning regularly or copying?
Change the scan settings with HP Printer Assistant.
-
Load the item on the scanner glass, in the document feeder slot, or in the automatic document feeder (ADF), depending on your printer type and features.
NOTE:
Do not load photos in the ADF to prevent damage to the photos and the printer.
-
Search Windows for your printer model, then click the printer name in the list of results.
HP Printer Assistant opens.
-
Click Scan, then click Scan a Document or Photo.
HP Scan opens.
-
Click one of the shortcuts that matches the file type and resulting action you want.
-
Change any of the shortcut default settings in the right side of the window, if necessary.
NOTE:
Available settings change depending on if you are scanning a document or photo. For example, the PDF File type is only available for document scans.
-
Select Show scan preview or Show Viewer After Scan to preview and make additional edits to the scan before saving it.
-
Click Advanced Settings or More to change settings such as quality, color, and default scan destination folder.
-
Click Scan.
The printer scans the item, then a preview of the scan displays in HP Scan.
-
If necessary, double-click the thumbnail image of the scanned item, then change any additional settings.
-
Click Save.
The Save as windows opens.
-
Select the folder you want to save the scan to, change the File name if necessary, confirm the file type in the Save as type menu, then click Save.

I am experiencing the same behaviour. In my case it appears to be specific to scans sent by the printer.
If I scan from the HP software, the EWS or perform a copy, either from the ADF or the glass, it works fine. However, if I scan from the control panel, sending to email, google drive or dropbox, it gives the same issue - the background is grey.
It appears to be specifically related to where the scan is initiated - from the printer itself causes a dark background

@James188, I understand your concern.
The engineering team at HP is checking on the issue to find the actual cause and an accurate solution to resolve it.
We will keep you posted. I appreciate your patience.

YES !! - someone else with same issue. New M479. Scan to Email using the web doc renders white almost unreadable. Makes perfect copies however - color or B/W. I have tried everything to make it work fine including a painful 1 hour with chat tech support. That was not worth the time and I finally gave up. I must use the web app as corp rules will not allow a SMTP address as a "send to'. I had to hook my M426 back onto my network to get satisfactory results. PLEASE fix this as I need this to work perfectly every day since we are Covid bound.
