Hi. the scanner of my HP MFP M28w gives Error type 30 at the start-up. I tried several time to reset the settings but still the scanner does it doesn't align properly. I tried with HP Scan Doctor and there are no errors found but the scan test cannot be prformed as scanner carriage does not move. Moreover, the printer does not make copies and the scanning programs do not work (both HP Smart and HP Scan). It happened that during a scan section, the scanner carriage got stuck and returned to its starting position but since then it doesn't seem to work anymore. The scan carriage tries to position itself several times when the printer is turned on (and the scanner flashes) but it seems to me that it cannot find the "zero position" correctly. Is there a way to reset the printer from a hardware point of view? I'm pretty sure it's a software issue at device startup. Kinldy, let me know if there is any chances to solve. thanks in advance and best. Marco

Hi @MarcoSerpi,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
see that you are getting a printer not activated error.
I recommend you delete the driver and root level and retry, follow the steps below:
1)In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2) Select your HP Printer
3) Select Uninstall
4) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’
6) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.
7) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
Click on the “Drivers” tab
9) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10) Select Ok
11) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12) Close Devices and Printers
Download and run the HP full-feature driver for the printer. Click here to download.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
