Hi @lmdant02

Thank you for joining the HP Forums!

I understand that you cannot change your scan to email password with your HP Officejet pro 8610 and I am happy to help!

Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) to set up Scan to E-mail.

 NOTE:

During the profile setup process, you might be asked for SMTP server name, SMTP port number, or authentication information. You can contact the email/Internet service provider or system administrator for the information. SMTP server names and port names are typically easy to find by doing an Internet search. For example, use terms like “gmail smtp server name” or “yahoo smtp server name" to search.

  1. On the Dock, click HP Utility.

    • If the HP Utility is not on the Dock, follow these steps:

      1. Double-click your hard drive.

      2. On the left, select Applications.

      3. Double-click the HP Folder.

      4. Double-click the HP Utility.

  2. Click Scan to Email, and then click Begin Scan to E-Mail Setup. The EWS opens in a new window.

     NOTE:

If you get a message stating 'Safari can’t verify the identity of the website,' click Continue.

  3. Click the Scan tab, and then click Scan to E-mail Setup.

  4. Click Outgoing E-mail Profile.

  5. Click New, and then enter your email address.

  6. Enter a name to display on the printer's control panel to identify this email profile.

  7. Enter or confirm the correct SMTP server and SMTP port information.

  8. If you typically have to enter a user name and password to log into your email account, enter this information into the email authentication fields.

  9. Click Next.

  10. If desired, enter a security PIN to restrict access to this email profile.

I am trying to set up the scan to email and have gone through these exact steps countless times.  On the EWS I get the message "Incorrect credentials".  Through the desktop setup I get the message: "Error. The username or password is incorrect. Press "Back" to change username or password and try again."

I know I am entering everything correctly.  What else am I missing?!?

Thank you for any help!!
