Scanjet G4010
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

We have had this scanner for a number of years now without any problems.  However, last few days the scanner has started to intermittently produce skewed scanned images.  How can this be resolved?

Hi @Pizzaman21,

The self test was good, so Not a issue with the scanner hardware.

What software are you using to scan?

Is there a auto correct option? if so what happens if turn off?

The picture look like tried to keep the hand writing straight, so skewed to picture.

What happens if try to scan the one with hand writing as PDF document?

Please get back to me.

Hi Tardis40,

Thanks.  I did the self test and this was completed successfully.

However, I then scanned a document and it skewed it.  But, a second document, scanned under the same operation as an added page, was not affected.

If you look at the two captured images of the scan I did you will see that the first, handwritten, document ends up slightly skewed if you look at the excess portion of the image which shows the negative carrier.  The second capture is an added page to the same scan operation but, in that one, a word processed document, the image stays as it should.

Any suggestions?

Regards,

Hi Tardis40,

Software is the HP Scanning which is up to date as checked recently.

Tried the scan to pdf but still skewed.

I then checked the scan preferences and for documents and saw that the "automatic straighten scanned images" was on.  I turned it off and tried another pdf scan, it came out perfect.

I tried a scan to file and this too came out perfect.

It would appear that the matter is resolved and that you are right in that the automatic settings were trying to keep the handwriting straight. :generic:

Thanks for your assistance.

Regards,

Pizzaman21
