HP Smart Tank 7605 All-in-One
Product: HP Smart Tank 7605 All-in-One
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11

I've tried looking 'everywhere' but can't find a solution to the fact of this device's producing only an unwanted mirror image of everything I try to scan, using the 'insert picture | from scanner or camera' tool in Word 2003. Worked completely OK with previous HP all-in-one!

Same with Excel 2003.

But works OK when scanning to Libre Office 7.6

Help, please?

@jrrose, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Check Scanner Settings in HP Smart Software:

Open HP Smart on your computer.

Go to Scan and make sure there's no option like "Mirror" or "Flip" turned on.

Check Word/Excel Settings:

In Word 2003 or Excel 2003, when you choose Insert > Picture > From Scanner, look for any flip or mirror options and turn them off.

Update Printer Drivers:

Go to the HP website and download the latest drivers for your printer. This ensures everything is working properly with Windows 11.

Use Windows Fax and Scan:

Try scanning using Windows Fax and Scan (instead of scanning directly in Word or Excel).

Save the scanned image and insert it into Word/Excel manually.

Test Other Programs:

Since it works fine in LibreOffice, try scanning into Paint or Photoshop to see if the issue is only in Word/Excel.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
