Suddenly I'm told that the username and password are invalid ("Username or Password is incorrect...") when I try to scan to email. What username and/ password is it talking about? This has worked in the past. Infact the printer status report says there have been 368 pages scanned - 215 from the ADF. How do I fix this???

Hi,
Thanks for the help. BUT I think I found the problem on my own. I use Google Mail as the mail server and I had turned off Google's "Unsafe apps" option for my account. Turning that back on seemed to do the trick. It would have been useful if the error message told the truth. Instead of saying "the username or password is incorrect" it would have been more instructive to say that "the mail server currently configured is rejecting the request to send email ..." and if the server said why it was rejecting the request then that too. The username and password were both correct so there was nothing to correct ... on the printer.

Hi @sk8nfool,
I'd like to help!
We can perform a factory defaults on the printer to resolve the issue
- The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
- I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
- In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Forums profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/notes/privatenotespage
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

By the way - your private message provided a way to semi-gull reset my printer. Using secret button sequences to access the menu is counter productive and annoying. Instead a regular menu item with a warning and confirmation is more useful.
Also - what does "semi-full reset" mean?
