Whenever i try to scan using HP MFP Scan, the scanning software stuck at 19% then stays stuck. I followed exactly steps below, posted in the post in link below, still having same issue with scanning stuck. Printing works perfect fine. What else can i do?
- Uninstall HP printer software, and then remove the printer from your Devices list.
- Restart the PC
- Close all programs
- download only this complete package: HP Color Laser MFP 170 Printer series Full Solution Software and Drivers
- Close all programs
- Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo > in folder Downloads double-click on the EXE,
File name: HP_Color_Laser_MFP_178_179_Full_Software_and_Drivers_1.20.exe (87.3 MB) - The installation was completed successfully, now you must ...
- Restart the System again
- Now the installation is complete.

Hi @mariannewong,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds frustrating to have the scanning function stuck. Here are some additional troubleshooting steps you can try for your HP Color Laser MFP 179fnw.
- Check Network Connection: Ensure the printer is properly connected to your network, either via Wi-Fi or Ethernet. You can print a network configuration page from the printer's menu to verify its status.
- Use HP Smart App: Try using the HP Smart app for scanning instead of the HP MFP Scan software. The app is often more reliable and may bypass issues with the older software.
- Update Firmware: Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer. You can do this through the printer's control panel or by visiting the HP support website.
- Scan from the Printer: Attempt to scan directly from the printer's control panel. Navigate to the scanning options and see if it works that way.
- Disable Firewall/Antivirus Temporarily: Sometimes, security software can interfere with the scanning process. Temporarily disable your firewall or antivirus and see if that resolves the issue.
- Check Windows Update: Make sure your Windows is fully updated. Sometimes, missing updates can cause compatibility issues with printer drivers.
- Use a Different USB Port (if applicable): If you're using a USB connection, try connecting the printer to a different USB port on your computer.
- Reinstall Printer Drivers: If the issue persists, you may want to completely uninstall the driver again, clear any remnants, and then reinstall it. Use the HP Printer Install Wizard to ensure a clean installation.
- Test on Another Device: If possible, try scanning from another computer to see if the issue is specific to your PC.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
