Hello, @Tittoo
WIA (Windows Image Acquisition) is a proprietary Microsoft driver model and application programming interface that helps in transferring the images via scanners, digital cameras etc. This is a part of your operating system.
Did you try to restart the services I mentioned above? Once all the services are restarted, try to run the Print Scan Doctor and check if that helps.
If the issue persists, you might be required to reinstall the operating system on your PC.
Let me know how that goes!
Cheers 🙂

Hello, @Tittoo – Hope you are well 🙂
Welcome to the HP Forum! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips!
I see that you are having issues while printing scanning your Deskjet printer. WIA is a component of Windows OS which helps in scanning.
Please verify the following OS services are enabled and try scanning again:
- Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open
- Type services.msc and click OK.
- Locate the 'Shell Hardware Detection' in the list. If it is not enabled/started, make sure to enable/start the service. Also, make sure the Startup Type set as Automatically from its properties.
- Locate the 'Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)' in the list. If it is not enabled/started, make sure to enable/start the service. Also, make sure the Startup Type set as Automatically as well
- Locate the 'Remote Procedure Call (RPC)' in the list. Perform the same steps as above.
- Restart the PC and check for issue resolution.
If the issue persists, try to reinstall the drivers and then check:
- Unplug the USB cable from the printer and computer if present.
- Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Deskjet printer entries and uninstall them.
- Restart your computer.
- Now click on HP DeskJet 2131 All-in-One Printer to download and install the printer drivers.
- Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.
- Make sure the services I mentioned in my previous posts are up and running and then try scanning again.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!
Good luck 🙂
