I get a vertical line when I scan using the document feeder. I don't get it when scanning from the glass plate. I need help getting access to the mirror strip. I raised the cover to the document feed, but I could not discover how to get under the rollers to clean the mirror. thanks

The document here may help resolve black lines in the scan using the ADF on your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus. In my experience this is nearly always caused by a spec on the thin glass on the left side that is used for scanning when using the ADF. Cleaning this area as described in the above document should resolve the issue. If the initial cleaning does not resolve the issue it may help to shine a bright flashlight nearly parallel to the glass. For a line on the left side of the printed page the spot will be toward the front of the printer, if the line is on the right of the paper it will correspond to a spec toward the rear of the printer.

CAUTION:To protect the interior printer parts, do not spray the cleaner directly on or into the printer.

I am glad I could help. I noticed the document (and image) had been moved in the recent restructuring, I updated the links to point at the corrected document link.

The link to the document is no more available 😞
Would it be possible to get the good one ?
Thanks,

The document had been changed once again, I updated the link above. The area you want to clean is the one highlighted in green in the picture in my post above.
