As an update to my situation, unfortunately I'm a couple months past my warranty period so I'm just dealing with it.
Since I first posted back in early January that the bend would fix this issue, I'd have to say I've had to use the bend solution several times to fix the problem. A couple of other times, the tablet had issues that weren't related to that problem and simply needed a reboot to get things back to normal with the touchscreen.
I use this tablet daily for about 30-min to 1 hour typically cruzing the net and checking emails and not much more, so this issue is more of an annoying inconvenience that I'm having to deal with because HP had a bad design or bad materials used in manuafacturing this tablet. I feel really disappointed in HP because of this issue. I feel like the guinea pig/beta tester that spent my hard earned money on a product that should not have this type of problem.
If things get worse then I'll repost but at this time it is just a real annoying inconvenience that has me upset with HP.

Same problem here... it's definately a hardware issue as people have pointed out because it also occurs if you try to go into BIOS, before Windows ever has a chance to boot. Also on my second tablet. No more HP for me. Will be looking for a RELIABLE replacement that won't let me down like this tablet has - multiple times now. The chargers are also bad and often times will not charge if the tablet becomes discharged very low. I had to purchase an aftermarket one to get it to charge from low battery level states. Replacement charger HP sent me had the same issue (although not as severe) as the original. Too bad, because the performance and screen are pretty nice and I would really like the tablet if it wasn't for all the failures.

I just wanted to thank everyone in this thread for recording their experiences. I recently had my Omni 10 swapped (eventually!) after I lost sound on it, then lost everything on it when I tried to restore from the default recovery and then an HP recovery stick, which wasn't recognised by the tablet.
Within the first few hours of using the replacement Omni 10 I've experienced a non-functional touchscreen. It eventually came back to life, but I'm not sure how. Maybe I 'fixed' it when I tossed it onto the bed in frustration. 🙂 This screen problem isn't an issue I ever had with my first Omni, so to have it appear so quickly makes me think this one was returned by someone else for a non-functioning touchscreen. It doesn't exactly fill me with confidence.
My default warranty period will be up soon, and I don't think I'll bother getting this issue investigated. The Omni 10 was a nice bit of kit while it lasted, but I no longer have any confidence with it as the mobile companion I hoped it would be. Time, I think, to move on and write this off against experience.

After a year of unsuccessfully trying things, I tried the bending thing too and it didn't work for me 😞
HOWEVER
I turned the tablet off, then turned it upside down (glass down) on my desk, and slapped the back of the tablet a couple of times. After turning it on, my touchscreen was back!!
I can't believe it! Thanks guys for the tips 😉

Please tell me how the troubleshooting steps you've linked us to is going to help without having a keyboard? The whole thing is touch!
I am having the same issue with my Hp Omni 10 touch screen tablet and my 7yr old daughter is freaking out because it seems to be working perfectly. Except, last week she has nothing but a "blue flashing screen". So, I hard rebooted it, safe booted it into Bit Locker and then got back into the OS that way and it fixed it so I decided not to recover it or restore it. Now the touch doesn't work - AT ALL.
Is there ANYTHING I can do to fix the issue or do I have to call HP?

I'm not sure who you are directing your post to regarding links and steps for dealing with your issue, but here is some help from users like you frustrated with this issue.
If your'e still under warranty then try tech support. If they're not able to help, I'd take it in and see if you can get it replaced with a new one.
If you're out of warranty then you can try some of the tricks users have used to deal with this issue.
After owning mine about a year and a half, I've found that the "bend" trick seems to fix the touch screen issue 80-90% of the time for me and the other times it's fixed with a reboot of the computer about 10-20% if the time. I'd also suggest getting a small dongle adapter ($10) for the USB port so that when your locked out you can simply connect a regular keyboard to the device to trouble shoot any issues. Not that putting more money into a troubled device is at the top of your list but it may help in some cases.
As I've said before on this forum, I'm very disappointed in HP's manufacturing QC/QA on this device. Actually, my biggest complaint of this device is the propietary charging cable and charging problem that it has. When I charge the for a long time, it seems to lock up nearly 80% of the time, so I have to do a hard reboot by holdind down the device power button. I really wanted to like this device, but all these issues added together makes me wish I would have saved up a little more money and bought a better windows tablet.

I sent the first tablet back for a replacement under warranty in November 2014 after receiving it in April 2014. This devloped the fault everyone else is experiencing - touchscreen (or digitiser) not responding in Windows, BIOS or during HP recovery. Clearely not a driver/software issue that can be fixed by a system restore. There was a brief period where it would come back to life but it soon developed into a sustained fault.
The replacement arrived at the end of November 2014 and developed the same fault within a couple of weeks so was sent back. The second replacement arrived at the end of December 2014 but wasn't fitted with a a battery so that also went back. The third replacement I received in December 2014 developed the same fault in April 2015. I sent that one back. The fourth replacement arrived in May 2015 and the touchscreen stopped working after 2 days. I sent that back. The fifth replacement never worked. I literally took it out of the packaging yesterday, turned it on and it it didn't work. I used my USB adaptor to get a mouse and keyboard working so I could set up windows and log on. I went to Control Panel and noticed exactly the same problem in Control Panel / Device Manager that all my the previous faulty tablets have had:
I2C HID device
This device cannot start. (Code 10)
A request for the HID descriptor failed.
I am out of my 12 month warranty period but I believe there is 90 days limited warranty on the replacements they send so this one is going back as well. What a disaster of a product. I am going to see if they can replace it with another product as I have no faith in this thing; my wife used to use it for remote working but now she uses an iPad air because it is reliable.
