Same here, motherboard had to be replaced. HP did not answer what the actual issue was. My spectre360 just switched off and never came back to life (after using it for 4 weeks or so). My trust in the device is gone. Now I cannot really use the device as a convertibale.  Going back to win 8.1. is not an option. - Any advice is welcome as HP is not really helpful in that matter.

Hello @D00MED,

Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums, I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.

I read your post about the screen rotation issue, and wanted to assist you!

To start, can you provide me with the Product Number of the notebook?  Here is a link you can use that will help you find your Model and Product Number: How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?

In the meantime, did you install the latest drivers from the HP site?  Did you try uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers?  Did you try enabling the screen rotation in Tablet Mode?  The option may be grayed out, but you should still be able to click it, in order to enable the rotation.  Did you check to see if Rotation Lock was enabled?  If so, the option to disable the lock will not be active until flipping the device into Tablet Mode.  If you are still having trouble, then try uninstalling the Intel Virtual Buttons Driver.  If you are using Windows 10, then try going into the Control Panel, and select Display.  Then go to Change Display Settings, and select the option to allow the screen to auto-rotate.  Let me know how it goes.

Hi HP,

I think most of us did try all of the above. The thing is, the units which came back from repair by HP have the problem that rotation is just not possible because the function is not there anymore. Windows can not find the sensors. Mine is now goging back for a re-repair, because they now said it is a known issue on repaired machines

What I did is:

back to 8.1 (fabric reinstall)     --> nothing (option is not even there)

update to 10 home                      --> nothing (option is not even there)

update to 10 pro                           --> nothing (option is not even there)

all HP latest drivers installed  --> nothing

uninstalled Intel Virtual BD      --> nothing

Oh yeah a third party app could not find any sensors on the Spectre

Also my screen always comes up as a PNP! but it is a QHD screen

Called again to HP, now they are gonna pick it up tomorrow! So we will see. I wanted a new machine but that seems to be an impossible thing for HP!!

I twittered mister Richard Baily (head of customerservices) maybe he can do something about this because re-repairs on machines that came out of the box with a faulty motherboard 😞

HP would be better of taking those machines back. And just send a new one. Apple wont allow this kind of things.

I bought the wrong product I think

@SDF15 / HP: Thanks, looking forward for a solution. My model is the

HP Spectre x360 - 13-4020ng (ENERGY STAR)

Despite that I think what you are asking from you average customers to try and tinker on their machines is a bit too much. But I actually did all of the above without any success as descirbed by misspepper.

@misspepper: Which third party app did you use to check the sensors?

hi sdf15,

my model number is l2z76pa, i have tried all of these things you listed and followed what hp support have suggested

Why was my post moved to a thread marked as solved? my issue is clearly not solved and it seems a few other people have the same issue,

right now my laptop is completly useless as the support agent from hp told me to do a factory reset and upon doing so we found that the recovery partition is corrupted o happy days.... now they are going to make me wait until they send a recovery usb to let me recover, from other posts i am expecting this to fail, i wish hp support were more organized instead of wasting so much of my time

Just go to the windows app store and type sensor, you will find several.

Am having the same and  HP will not acknowledge issue.  It is clearly a driver issue

I have tried all of the above.  for the last month.  Including a complete rebuild.   You need to release the driver!

I have tried all of the same things but after seeing what happens, there is no way I am sending my machine back.  I got thIfe same line "HP does not replace notebooks" .  If you walk into best buy you will see machines that all working.  This is a driver issue

I thought when I bought the Spectre I was getting a top of the line machine, but my customer service experience has been a horror. Honestly I think I'm at the stage of selling and moving on. Its been months and no action on this issue that basically defeats the entire purpose of buying this product. It's main functionality is gone, it does not switch to tablet automatically when turned over, more over if I do manually, I still can't disable the keyboard, nor track pad, so its a rather useless process.
