Officejet Pro 8600 Plus
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus that I'm I've been pleased with until now. After gettting low ink warnings on the M and Y inks I replaced them with genuine HP cartridges (951XL) but I got an error that reads "The following cartridges are not intended for use in this printer". What?! If I replace the new cartridges with the old it says they are low on ink but no "compatibility" problem. I tried cleaning the contacts on both the printhead and the cartridges and it didn't help.  I called HP and they sent me replacement cartridges (M and Y) and I got the same error! It's very frustrating because HP, in their wisdom, shuts down ALL functions of the printer. I can't even scan or print in black ink. I can't even get to the menu. I also updated the firmware.  I called HP again and they said that the printer is out of warranty and can't be fixed so I should just scrap it and buy a new one. **bleep**? Trash an otherwise good printer just because HP insists on locking up my options?  I am very frustrated and angry at HP and will not buy another HP printer if I can't find a solution to this.
