Hello,
*Phone working with: Poly CCX 505
*Phone firmware version: 8.1.6.1006
*Microsoft Teams Enabled/Configured
I am working in an environment that is trying to provision multiple Poly CCX 505 phones. We have managed to set a DHCP host with a DHCP option 161 pointing to a http://hostaddress/polyphone/000000000000.cfg with the desired configs to apply to new phones.
The HTTP file host is an IIS host in Windows Server 2022.
On boot the phone is correctly calling out to the HTTP hosted file location. However, during a Wire Shark of the communication between them, there are entries like these stating that the phone is not able to read any of the discovered config files...
If I rename the files to a standard .xml file I _can_ read them from a browser separately. Validating the directory they are being served up from is not restricted. I can also enable 'file browse' in IIS and I am able to view the directory within a browser and the files present.
The config file content is as follows...
Ultimately the need is to enable the 'Applications' and 'PTT' functionality...
Looking for insight if there are missing pieces or other. I get the same 404 error when using the default 000000000000.cfg file.

I resolved my issue by completing the following...
From the CCX 505 UI menu Simple Setup > Base Profile - Generic
This enabled Settings > Applications & Settings > Paging/PTT Configuration.
The phone then accepted the MAC-phone.cfg file with the appropriate info.
Presumably this could also be set in the MAC-phone.cfg to set the profile to 'Generic' allowing the needed functionality.

Hello @Skagnola ,
welcome to the HP Poly community.
This sounds like the phone cannot get to file itself. This is the cause of the 404 error. Do you have a PC in the same network and can this get to it?
EDIT: It could also be the MIME type. ISS logs should tell you

Hello, Steffen.
Appreciate the quick response! That's a good point.
I was figuring since it was not HTTP/HTML content hosted on the IIS server - browsing to it from my or anyone else's workstation returns a 404 error on the .cfg file no matter what - was what was going on. Changing the file extension to .xml it would load fine on workstation browsers. However, seeing the phone cycle through some other .cfg files that were present in the directory return a 404 as well in the Wire Shark details is telling. Same behavior when changing the file to .xml for the phone to read.
I will need to have another person check if there is some type of filtering going on elsewhere between the file host and the phone. The phones are on a separate VLAN that doesn't share space with regular workstations.

Hello @Skagnola ,
welcome back to the HP Poly community.
As mentioned in my reply check the Mime type on IIS:
- Expand the default Web Site and select the Mime Types
- A list of Mime Types the web server supports are listed and you will be required to add a minimum 3 mime types to recognize Poly-specific file extensions.
(NOTE: please check => here <= for all required types !)
Best Regards

Made some progress quickly. Turns out the .cfg file type has to be made available in IIS by adding the MIME type for the .cfg extension to be 'text/plain'.
Once I did this, I was then able to browse the .cfg from anywhere and it would automatically download.
I then rebooted the phone and saw in the WireShark that it did actually see it that time. However, 'Applications' and 'PTT' are still greyed out.
I also think whatever the config file did change, I need to restore the phone back as it didn't attempt to discover the .cfg files on a reboot and some other configs are missing.
I will report back soon.

Hello @Skagnola ,
This is why it is important to provide details on what Provider you are using as an example as some settings may not be available depending on the Provider used.
I assume this is Microsoft Teams.
Again, just to help you check our VoIP FAQ:
Mar 08, 2013 Question: Where can I download configuration files from or create these myself?
Resolution: Please check => here <=
The above explains how to check parameters.
From the UC FAQ:
Mar 08, 2022 Question: Can Poly CCX phones when in Microsoft Teams mode use Group Paging / Page which is compatible with other legacy Poly phones?
Resolution: Please check >here<
What functionality under Settings > Applications are you trying to use?
Most of them have no functionality when running Microsoft Teams and are therefore greyed out.
For any follow-up questions, if no other Volunteer replies, I suggest you contact our Support organization in your region. Details are in my Signature.

Hello, Steffen
Thanks for checking.
I made _some_ progress. I downloaded the UC software from Poly Lens -
PVOS_CCX505_9_0_0_10315_release_.zip. Unpacked this into the HTTP directory where the phone will be directed by the DHCP host.
The phone did call out for the files as seen below in the WireShark details. No 404 errors...
... However, the desired menu options are not enabled.
I'm not sure if this is because the phones are Teams enabled and that is taking priority over an external means to enable functionality.
I found the following configs in the global.cfg for this model and enabled/set them as needed, but again, still the same result - in that they are not actually being enabled - via this provision method. The menu option is greyed out...
apps.push.messageType="5"
apps.push.username="[redacted]"
apps.push.password="[redacted]"
apps.statePolling.responseMode="0"
apps.statePolling.username="[redacted]"
apps.statePolling.password="[redacted]"
apps.telNotification.lineRegistrationEvent="1"
apps.telNotification.outgoingEvent="1"
apps.telNotification.URL="http://[redacted]/PolycomListener"
httpd.enabled="1"
httpd.cfg.port="80"
httpd.cfg.secureTunnelEnabled="1"
httpd.cfg.secureTunnelPort="443"
httpd.cfg.secureTunnelRequired="1"
ptt.emergencyChannel.volume="-8"
ptt.pageMode.allowOffHookPages="1"
ptt.pageMode.enable="1"

Hello @Skagnola ,
I have just added a note to the VoIP FAQ making this even clearer as already explained:
Feb 04, 2013 Question: Can I remotely control the Phone or send content to the Phone?
Answer: The <apps/> parameter can be used to utilize the push server controls and more information can be found => here <=
Using any Base Profile other than Generic the below described <apps/> examples will not work
and also
Aug 13, 2024 Question: Why are some menus in the Web Interface greyed out?
Resolution: When using any other Base Profile than Generic features that are not supported cannot be selected
I hope the above explanation clears up the assumption that you can use some of these features.
The <apps/> Feature is an older SIP feature that would send the phone state to a socket so an app could receive this. Applications like Microsoft Teams cannot fully share their state, so phones cannot access this.
I provided an example of how to use Paging with Native Teams. Please use this if you want to utilize the functionality.
Other Volunteers may reply but if you need further support please work with our support organisation.
Best Regards
Steffen Baier
