Release Notes

Introduction

Software version: PVOS 8.2.3.0844

Release date: January 2025

What's New

This release of PVOS includes new features, feature enhancements, and important field fixes.

This release includes the following new features and enhancements:

  • TR-069 enhancements

  • Extending the amount of time the expanded call view displays

  • Immediately rejecting incoming calls on shared lines when on DND

  • Zoom DCC re-established after restart

  • OPUS codec support for VQM

  • Fewer key presses required when only a single shared line action is available for the Zoom service

TR-069 enhancements

Poly Edge E Series phones now support TR-069 and are enhanced with additional support for Annex G. Annex G provides NAT traversal capabilities to a TR-069 capable Auto-Configuration Server (ACS) using public address information the phone collects from a STUN server.

For more information, see TR-069 Parameters.

The following parameter previously available in older Poly UC Software for use with the Poly VVX series IP phones has changed for use with the Poly Edge E series starting in this PVOS release.

This change allows a default value and ranges to be applied.

device.tr069.periodicInform.enabled

Changes to tr069.periodicInform.enabled

device.tr069.periodicInform.interval

Changes to tr069.periodicInform.interval

  • Default: 86400
  • Mimimum: 15
  • Maximum: 604800

Extending the amount of time the expanded call view displays

After pressing and holding a line key to view information about an active call, the default timer for returning to the idle screen or previously active call has been increased from 5 to 8 seconds. The amount of time is now configurable for further customization.

up.lineKeyCallView.Timeout
  • Default: 8
  • Minimum: 5
  • Maximum: 30

Immediately rejecting incoming calls on shared lines when on DND

Calls to a shared line while the phone is on Do Not Disturb (DND) can now be rejected immediately using a new configuration parameter.

When this parameter is set to 1, shared lines on a Poly Edge E phone will immediately reject received calls when Do Not Disturb (DnD) is active.

call.shared.rejectDndImmediately
  • Default: 0
  • Allowed values: 1 or 0

Zoom DCC re-established after restart

This enhancement allows the phone to re-establish Zoom Desktop Call Control (DCC) pairing when you restart the phone.

OPUS codec support for VQM

The Voice Quality Metrics (VQM) library has been updated to include the OPUS audio codec, allowing the Poly Edge E series to now send RTCP-XR and SIP PUBLISH-based call quality reports which include MOS values.

The OPUS codec is highly configurable allowing for a wide range of quality options and bitrates. For further information, see Configuring the Opus codec.

Fewer key presses required when only a single shared line action is available for the Zoom service

Poly Edge E phones now include single available action keys to replace the Monitor softkey after you press and hold the shared or monitored line key.

You no longer need open the Monitor submenu to share or monitor a Zoom line for the Barge, Listen, Whisper, or Takeover actions.

Resolved Issues

Review the resolved issues in this release.

Note: These release notes don’t provide a complete listing of all resolved issues that are included in the software. User Experience updates, performance fixes, and enhancements may not be included. Resolved issues

Category Issue ID Description
Application VOICE-80857 Telephony XML notification events for outgoing calls produce multiple duplicate messages.
Application VOICE-80743 The phone's system web interface-based XML Telephony applications used for Metaswitch call services occasionally show errors reporting SSL/TLS handshake failed.
Application VOICE-80365 Call detail record (CDR) analytics used with the Poly Lens platform have an impact on Poly Edge E free memory use that can cause intermittent reboots.
Application VOICE-79690 The up.ringer.minimumVolume="0" parameter on Poly Edge E220 phones doesn’t take effect immediately.
Application VOICE-79382 Incoming calls to Poly Edge E350 phones aren’t answered from the system web interface because the call control fails.
Headsets VOICE-79642 Phones connected to headsets using the Poly APP-51 Electronic Hookswitch (EHS) adapter experience gradual performance impacts until they are rebooted.
Interoperability VOICE-80147 In rare circumstances, the phone intermittently reboots after placing a call due to incorrect handling of a malformed SIP 4xx authentication response.
Interoperability VOICE-80041 Phones paired to a PC Zoom client with the Zoom Desktop Call Control (DCC) feature lose their pairing after SIP or BLF lines are modified from the Zoom admin portal.
Interoperability VOICE-79995 The Poly XML push API doesn’t work for line key actions on the Poly Edge E Expansion Module.
Interoperability VOICE-79833 When network delays impact SIP responses from the server, blind-transferred calls are unintentionally dropped if the normally inaccessible Resume softkey is used after the transfer starts.
Interoperability VOICE-79500 Phones subscribed to services such as pickup groups can occasionally lose their subscription in some TLS socket failover cases, which prevents them from later receiving notifications to that group.
Interoperability VOICE-79219 Phones provision and appear in a Poly Lens tenant's inventory but don’t correctly reflect their online status when a web proxy is used with the mode set to Auto.
Network VOICE-80797 DND synchronization with RingCentral's telephony service stops working after a network change to the RingCentral service.
User interface VOICE-80268 Caller-IDs incorrectly display a comma between the first and last name where reverse name lookup is using the LDAP service.
User interface VOICE-79716 BLF resource-monitored key disappears intermittently from the phone screen.
User Interface VOICE-79325 Enforce a reasonable limit for the periodicInform.interval parameter and update the tooltip to not allow an empty or invalid value.
User interface VOICE-79199 For Poly Edge E phones provisioned with Zoom, the Call Queue name is only displayed briefly when receiving a call from another Zoom extension (internal call).
User interface VOICE-78988 An intermittent reboot affects phones that use the breathing pattern on the Poly Edge E phone's surround LED.
User interface VOICE-78940 The Parked Call icon disappears after 10 minutes.
