Option 43 should not be defined if you are using the vendor specific suboptions. They are both so the phones can find the certificate provising service. This is used for provising the trusted root certificate and in PIN based auth. The VVX phones do not seem to handel unexpted data in option 43. Again just remove it from the scope where your phones are. A quick test in my lab when I added option 43 with invalid data.
No option 43 just the vendor suboptions

In a correctly setup LYNC environment Option 43 for the PIN&Extension should only reply to any phone if they are using a vendor class of MS-UC-Client.
Jeff describes this in very detail here: http://blog.schertz.name/2012/05/understanding-dhcp-option-43/
Polycom SPIP/SSIP or VVX phones can actually use the "normal" Option 43 for other things like Provisioning server and as noticed by this user for network options.
We document some here: http://support.polycom.com/global/documents/support/technical/products/voice/DHCP_Option_60_TB54041....
This document is currently updated so it does not include all details.
The suggestion is to work with their Polycom reseller to discuss this in more detail and setup the network correctly

Hello all,
the below illustrates all the Options a DHCP Discovery request's / provides. The example in this case is a VVX600 running UC Software 5.3.1:
- Option 12 is the Host Name
- Option 55 has a multitude of sub options including VLAN (191,157,144 and 128)
Provisioning server 66 and 160 (or 161 if in LYNC base Profile) - Option 60 is the Vendor Class discussed in this post and for this example a Polycom-VVX600
- Option 125 contains various sub options again similar to Option 60 but also includes Software Levels and part numbers etc and more details can be found => here <=
Again a correctly setup LYNC infrastructure should not send any Option 43 details as defined in detail => here <= if the Vendor Class send by the device is not MS-UC-Client.
Only the MS-UC-Client Vendor option should request the Option 43.
In non LYNC mode our Polycom Phones, and other Vendors, can actually utilize the Option 60 / Option 43 combination as explained => here <=
A Option 43 reply to a DHCP Discover can actually contain:
- Option1-subnet mask
- Option2-Time offset
- Option3-Router
- Option4-Time server
- Option6-Domain Name server
- Option7-Domain Log server
- Option15-Domain Name
- Option42-Network Time
- Option66-TFTP Server Name
SoundStation IP / SoundPoint IP Phones in addition support options 128-254 via Option 43.
Polycom VVX phones will add this support in a future Version.
I hope the above clears up the confusion caused by the Optimized for LYNC phones inability to utilize the Option 43 in the same manner as a Polycom Phone or other vendor phones can.
If the Polycom phone is in LYNC base profile and a DHCP Discover (during Pin and Extension Sign in) requests the Option 43 using the MS-UC-Client as a Vendor class will then parse the LYNC Option 43 correctly.
