@rjsmith2007 - I basically tried what you said. I went into the menu and adjusted Brightness and contrast which gave me the option to save when exiting those sections of the menu. I then highlighted "Text" in the colour control menu and let it time out. Seems to have worked so far, though I'll have to spend more time testing to see if it actually sticks. Thanks for sharing 🙂
Still, it's pretty clear it's a bug / issue with the firmware design. HP really should release a proper fix for this! Please can someone from HP reply to us? Thanks.

I only managed to get a couple of days out of that workaround, then it reset itself and wouldn't work anymore. After a lot of messing about with settings in the OSD, I managed to get it to work again. Not sure how long it'll last this time though...
HP - please can we get a proper fix for this buggy firmware so we don't have to keep messing about with workarounds!? If you guys just ignore this issue, it doesn't look good for you as it's very clear to all of us that it's there. I know it'll hurt my confidence in your products if you can't fix this seemingly small issue. Thanks.

I'm gonna try contacting HP support by phone or instant chat, unless anyone knows a support email address for them?
Anyway, could you guys try doing the same? The more of us contact them about this, the more likely they are to do something about it. It seems like they're just going to ignore the issue on these forums, so I think that's our next step. Thanks guys.

Unfortunately, mine seems to get reset quite easily. Rebooting the computer is one of the things that causes it. But sometimes it just resets and I don't know why.
But if this happens to you, here's what I've figured out to get your workaround to work again.
Bring up the OSD and go into Colour Control > Quick View > select Gaming Mode (which will cause FreeSync to be enabled) > then set brightness, contrast and whatever else back to how you want them (as gaming mode will mess with some stuff depending on what your previous settings were) > Go back into Colour Control > Highlight Text mode > let the menu timeout.
So basically, it's the same workaround you provided, but it just requires enabling Game Mode before you do it.
It's really becoming a nuisance to me to have to keep doing this. I'll try messaging HP once the chat is available and report back when I have some results.

I'm having no luck with the chat support option. I waited in a que and then I got this message "Connected. A support representative will be with you shortly.". It's been like that for half an hour now. I've tried the chat in the past and I've never been able to get it to work. Tried different browsers and operating systems but it's always the same.
Can someone from HP on this forum help out with this and get our bug report over the to technical team so they can fix the firmware? We've clearly identified and documented a problem with the firmware and a workaround for it. This thread will give them the info they need to fix the issue. Thanks.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).
If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forum.

Thanks for doing that! And just to add to the info here, I've found that sometimes when it randomly switches off FreeSync, it causes blue screens. It seems to only be if the GPU is doing something intensive when FreeSync gets switched off that it happens.
