I tried to scan a document, after about 2 weeks that I haven't used the printer. The result is above. I have cleaned up the glass and the white cover, I have unplugged the printer multiple times (in order to reset it and I have waited more than 30 minutes), I tried plugging it directly into a wall socket and nothing.

I have an Envy 5531. It was working fine until they did their update!!!
Now my scan/copy does NOT WORK!!!!
The blue light just spins
I can print from my internet or iphone.
But it DOES NOT SCAN OR COPY.
I WANT ANSWERS. OR A NEW PRINTER
THE TECH TOLD ME TOO BAD ITS OUT OF WARRANTY. SAID OH WELL YOU HAD IT FOR A LONG TIME AND HUNG UP ON ME!
THIS IS HOW YOU TREAT YOUR CUSTOMERS!
I have AN EXPENSIVE HP COMPUTER DESKTOP AND LAPTOP. I WILL NEVER BUY HP AGAIN IF THEY DONT RESOLVE THIS!!!
If HP doesn't fix this problem and give us a fix or a new printer I will post very NEGATIVE COMMENTS AND REVIEWS ABOUT THEM.
THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE.

Same here. Haven't used the scanner on HP DeskJet 5645 for the past two months and now it produces color vertical lines on black background. I suspect new August 2018 firmware NIP1CN1831AR is to blame. I restored device to factory settings and unplugged it according to the video below, but the scanning issue remains. Printing still works fine, though.
