HP Photosmart 7520
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My printer suddenly stopped connecting to Web Services about a month ago. I had previously used the web services successfully for two years, then my computer got infected with malware and messed up a lot of things. I'm assuming it also affected the printer since it was at the same time that it stopped working correctly. I can print wirelessly just fine from all of my devices, but things like scheduled printables won't connect.

I have tried restaring the printer and restoring the printer to network defaults. I have also tried the steps listed in this forum http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Inkjet-Printing/HP-Photosmart-7520-unable-to-connect-to-Web-Services/td...

Hi,

Apologies for jumping in!

For the Photosmart 7520, the latest firmware must be installed to maintain a Web Services connection.

The firmware can be installed from any Windows PC via the following link:

Welcome to the HP Forums @kimijeano

I'd be happy to help you with your Photosmart 7520. I understand from your description that the printer does not connect to your Web Services and longer. Other than the Printables, is there some other indication that the Web Services are not working? Do you get an error of some sort when you try to connect?

It is possible the recent retirement of HP Printables is the root cause of your inquiry. Please take a look at the following document and let me know if the Printables not printing was the only symptom you were experiencing: HP Printers - HP Printables and HP Printables Mobile App Retirement.

If this information resolves your inquiry, please click the Accept as Solution button below to mark you post as solved.

Thanks.

That was it! Thank you! My printables weren't working (and I know they are being discontinued. Boo!) but I also couldn't print to the hp email address or use the copy to email/scan to email feature on the printer.

'HP Printables' is pretty oblique. Is that Web services , the most commonly used term?

eFax?

ePrint?

Very disappointed in the way this news  is being  manged.

Not a 'student' per my alias description, but who wants to waste time trying to figure out where that update is made?

Don't lose your sanity trying to get web services to connect. Web services has been discontinued.

As of September 1, 2016, Web Services are no longer supported on many HP printers. The following is a typical error message that appears:

•Server Connection Error. Unable to connect to Web Services.

Printers affected are listed here:

http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05211712

The discontinuance of web services means that as of September 1, 2016, the following features are no longer available:

•eFax

•HP ePrint (remotely send a document to a printer)

•Scan to email (scan to file is still working)

- IMPORTANT: Irritating to learn this the hard way. The ‘scan to email’ option is still there. When selected, it places the document in a file, the same as the ‘scan to file’ option, but it doesn’t declare that is happening.

I spent two and a half hours trying to get my eFax working. The message screen said "Server Connection Error." "Unable to Connect to Web Services." I researched the HP Forum and read posts as far back as 2010 dealing with this problem. I wasted time trying all of the options. I took another stab the next day and then called  HP Tech Support.  I was on the phone for an hour with them as the agent repeated all of the steps I had already gone through. Then she went farther, downloading and inslalling the lastest printer application software. Nothing worked.

Then the agent stepped away for 5 minutes and came back saying 'web services for this model has been discontinued.' What? Thanks for letting us know. The Agents don't even know? The latest software downloaded  by the Tech Support Agent EVEN HAD THE WEB SERVICE ACTIVATION OPTION !!!

My printer is 7510
