Super Mario, Did you read the whole thread?  the great users on here did all the hard work for you and figured out thats its a conflict between Microsoft update KB2962407 and the audio drivers on all of our machines.  Before you continue with posting silly questions, tests, and proceadures that waste our time, Let me ask you, what is HP and Microsoft doing about this conflict?  Is it even getting addressed or is this going to be one of those insances where companies refuse to acknoledge issues at the expence of the end user?  Being an new buyer of an HP, I'm pretty mad and at this point i would never ever buy another HP product again.

Us figuring out how to fix the problem actually came from Super Mario1's original forum post where he detailed several potential  solutions. The one we have all been using, the one involing uninstalling that pesky Windows update was originally his suggestion which we in return followed and notified others about.

Well I'm sorry for being an ass... but I'm just sick of the generic scripted responces from the support staff.  it seems like the only answers I can get on here is from other users.  the real answer we all want to know though is when is this conflict getting resolved!?!

Jonnysax:

I believe your statement " the great users on here did all the hard work for you and figured out that its a conflict between Microsoft update KB2962407" is incorrect.

SuperMario1 was the first to report  here that there was a problem with MS update KB2962407 and how to perform the work-around.

I, along with others, took his info and used it to help other users who were experiencing similar audio issues here.

Thank you!  Since Windows update KB2962407 is just an optional update, I uninstalled it.  IDT audio driver and BEATS work again.

Jonnysax,

I also thought that Super Mario 1 was late to the party on this problem, but when I read through all the posts, I found the one by vhawk1 that mentioned Super Mario suggesting  the uninstallation of the Microsoft update.  Thanks again to vhawk1 and Super Mario.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the continued support 🙂 I included another step to the initial post, that will prove to be as helpful as the other steps.

Right now, it is important to mention that if the issue in your case is caused by the Windows update, then the steps may only be a workaround. When Microsoft fixes the update, or removes it completely, that will be the end of it.

Until then, please feel free to use my steps, since they are the best steps around 🙂

Mario

I worked on behalf of HP.

I am having teh same problem with the audio and get the same message.

I'll try to uninstall the IDT as well.

thanks..

this stinks by the way.  when is Microsoft goign to admit they have a problem with an update they sent out?

Just a quick update: The uninstalling of the Windows update is still working great for me. My sound has been great for days and my computer is also no longer experiencing those mysterious occasional shutdowns and blue screens it was for weeks prior. This certainly seems like a solid workaround or maybe even solution as I have no immediate desire to reinstall that update even if it does get fixed.

I'm having the EXACT same issues on a Dell laptop running Win8.  The sound issue started after the windows update around the first week of July.   Sound will occasionally work after restart but then go out, Netflix will not work any longer, and my key pad seems to get hung up.  I can't find a fix anywhere and now I'm paying for Netflix which I cant get to run and the sound issue seems to be getting worse as restarting has stopped fixing the issue even temporarily.  I'm not super with fixing computer stuff so any advice would be helpful.

My sound is from Realtek High Def Audio.  Search on  their site says I have the most up to date drivers etc....so I'm at a loss.
