If anyone searches and finds this old thread like I did, there is now a part number for the door alone, no need to replace the entire bae. HP part number is 917396-001. I just ordered the part, it is not clear whether the spring is included. My user lst his spring as well.

Yes and I must express my gratitude to HP for hearing consumers out and resolving this. Iniitaly they have first recognized this officialy as a flaw and started accepting repairs under warranty which subsequently lead to providing a separate PN.

Lan plastik broken ,hp 840 g2 .

this is realy bad .

This elitebook , it must have extra good design and i faced like this problems.
