HP Spectre x360 13.5 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 14-ef2000 (771X4AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,

To login via Windows Hello my laptop uses the webcam in combination with the IR camera (red light left of normal camera).

This worked perfect until a few months ago. After checking this forum I learned to uninstall  the device via the device manager of windows under the "Biometric devices". After a restart windows automatically reinstalls the correct drivers and the IR camera works fine again.
This I did every week to keep the camera working but since a few weeks nothing helps anymore and I cannot get my IR camera to work.
I reinstalled the HP drivers for the webcam (SP88464) without succes.
I removed the hello login and reconfigured without succes.

Thank you for your tips.

Regards,

Dino

The IR function may not be waking up from sleep.  Try using the devices managers power management

You may need to show hidden devices

  1. Device Manager > View “Devices by type” AND “Show hidden devices”
  2. Open category Biometric devices

look for the camera or whatever device that does the hello. and right click on it to get to the "Power Management"

Then uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”

I looked for drivers here but was unable to find sp88484 and all the drivers seems to start with sp14xxxx

If there is no power management possibly the Webcam is powered or controlled through USB circuitry that is not waking up.

Hello,

Thank you for your quick answer.

Unfortunately I did not find the "Power Management" option. Its an internal webcam of my laptop, not sure if this can be switched off.
On the website you mention I do not find the driver you are talking about. I let the website identify my laptop but he does not find any drivers for the webcam. Any URL to download directly?

Thank you again.

The camera has an LED that indicates if it is working or not as described on page 11

The LED is OFF when the camera is working which is counter intuitive.

If the LED is lit up, tap the button to turn the LED off and the camera ON.

The camera part number is N12241-001  but I have no idea who makes it or which of the drivers listed support the camera.

If you enter "camera" in the windows 11 search bar does the camera pop up and work?

I just looked on my son's HP laptop and his camera is USB powered

and the usb device is ---

BeemerBiker_1-1705515435264.png

there is no power management but the correct drive can possibly be found from the VID and the PID as  shown above.

What does your laptops show for device instance path?

Hello,

I am aware about the button to switch off the webcam. The webcam is working perfect. It is just the IR camera which is used by Hello from Windows to login with low light.

I did see 1 big difference: I only have the HP True Vision Camera listed, not the IR camera. Also no camera listed in the USB section.

The Device description of the HP True Vision is "Intel (R) AVStream Camera"

This is strange as it worked before? But maybe I am using the wrong driver after a windows update?

Thank you for investigating!

Turn on "hidden devices" and see if it shows up;  If it shows up then the correct driver needs to be found and it may have a different device id than the "other camera".

If not, then check warranty as it should be there.

What did the biometric show?

I did a search for that device and found the following but "hp" is not listed.  Y

https://treexy.com/products/driver-fusion/database/extensions/intel/adl-avstream-camera/?o=id-/video...

You might try the Intel Assistant

The "hidden devices" was on and still not IR camera in the list.

Not sure if it was there in the beginning when I bought the laptop...

This is the camera driver

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/closure/hp-spectre-x360-13.5-inch-2-in-1-laptop-pc-14-ef2000/mo...

it has the same names as the "intel" link I found by looking up your display link

IPU\iaisp64.inf
IPU\iacamera64.inf
IPU\iacamera64_ext_hp_dashiell.inf
IPU\iactrllogic64.inf
IPU\hi556.inf
IPU\hi556_extension_hp_dashiell.inf
IPU\lm3643.inf
IPU\og0va1b.inf
IPU\og0va1b_extension_hp_dashiell.inf

the previous link did not mention HP.

I do not know why the IR does not show up in the device manager.  If the above does not work then go into the BIOS setup and look for the IR camera and see if it is disabled.

If in warranty let tech rep handle it

check warranty and call for repair info:

Thank you for the link for the driver but it is not working. It landing on a download confirmation page. I am not able to go 1 step back so I still don't find the driver. Can you please try again sending another link to the driver you found?

I also checked the BIOS setup on startup but did not find anything related to the camera...

Trying to keep sending it in for repair as a last resort....
