HP Spectre 13-4005dx x360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

We had the same issue last week the PC will not charge.  Tried two HP power cords that both work with my other HP convertible.  Both power cords work on the other HP, however, they will not charge this HP Spectre 13-4005dx x360 Convertible PC.  I did a hardware check on the battery while I still had a charge and the battery was fine.  Was able to use it for a few hours but it is now out of battery.  How do I request to have this repaired?

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

So the laptop works and runs on AC power? How old is the battery? Batteries do fail at some point. What you really need to do is a full battery test in either HP Support Assistant or in the preboot UEFI environment. Turn off. Turn on and immediately tap esc then select F2 at the menu and then component tests. Run the full length test and report back advanced results here. While I think you can legitimately ask HP to fix the laptop out of warranty if it has the burned motherboard problem it is not appropriate to seek free replacement of a battery that has provided a normal service life.

No, the laptop doesn't run on the AC power.   The Laptop does not run or charge via the power cord and there is an issue with the charging port.  Tried two AC adapters that work on other HP laptops so it is not the AC adapters it is the charging port.  It is a charging port hardware/motherboard issue.  I ran the battery test while there was still a charge left in the battery and the battery is fine.  Once the battery was out of charge I can't turn the PC back, due to the laptop not working or charging from the AC adapter.  I've troubleshot this to the Motherboard/charging port not working.

HP should repair this, the laptop is a year and half old.

I have the same problem but the post marked as "solution" did not help me at all.  Please tell me how I can solve this problem?

@KevinCO - I have the same issue, what happened in the end to resolve your issue?

Hi Gowahine - I have the exact same issue too. HP are being *rses about it though as I'm now just out of warranty.  How did you fix your issue in the end?

Hello R8sso,  I brought my laptop to a nearby repair shop for diagnosis and found that it was not the problem with the port.  It was the power cable's connection.  I needed to purchase a new power cable (expensive!) and paid for the diagnosis.  Now i have another issue with my laptop (white lines on the screen) and thinking about switching to Dell or back to Apple
