I had the problem about a year ago and solved it with A4Apollo's power management suggestions (see above). I just noticed this week that the problem is back. I re-implemented the power management settings, but not luck. Plus I tried Lahnis' solution of holding the power button for 30 secs with the computer off and disconnected that seems to work for everyone. It didn't work for me though.
Anyone have any other suggestions??? I'm desperate!

Try again and again with the 30 sec "trick". I sometimes need to repeat it 3 times. Other than that, no suggestion 😞
Maybe make sure that there is not a software / windows error. To be sure the most reliable way is to make a Linux (i.e. Ubuntu https://ubuntu.com/#download) USB stick using Rufus ( https://rufus.ie/ ) and see if it also does not work there. If it does work, it is not hardware but software-related.

I got my HP spectre 13 x360 aw0204 (10 gen Core i5, 8GB, 512 GB SSD) on 5th of this month. I like the PC a lot for many reasons but it also has this issue like others. One of the two thunderbolt type C ports (near hinge) on the right is not working now (was working earlier). When I connect the charger it says usb device not recognized and sometimes no error message at all. I tried power reset (pressing power key for 5 sec or more with laptop powered down and all usb devices disconnected) and uninstall/update drives, power management and all sorts of solutions mentioned here but none of them seem to be working for me. I ran UEFI component test for system board, usb, thunderbolt and all were passed. What to do next.. other than sending it to Hp for repairs. I am on latest bios version btw

Update: I tried plugging my usb drive today and it's working, so are other devices except my hp usb c charger (still not charging) on one port (same port as earlier). The other port is fine though (everything works along with charging). I only cleaned up my registry and junk files after uninstalling a few apps (hp bloat) using McAfee which came preinstalled on mine. Other than that no change since my usb port was completely non functional. I am a bit relieved that it is not a hardware issue!
