Hey all I had the same problem too so i decided to revert back to Windows 8.1. After reverting back to Windows 8.1, I again updated to Windows 10 and this time I did not come across this problem. Been 2 days since I updated and my HP is running smoothly without any shutdown/sleep problem. I hope it solves the issue for others too.

I found a solution...

Go back to our previous version whilst we still have a get out of jail card!!! One look ar the Microsoft community boards shows Windows 10 is full of bugs.

For some reanon; i could only extend mu reservation for 3 days; and thereafter it automatically

My Pavilion laptop won't shut down in windows 10 ... tried all sorts to fix it!  No luck.  Am using long press on starter button to switch it off but worried it is not much good for my machine that way (as well as annoyingly slow).  Very interested to see that others a finding exactly the same problem to shut down or sleep. 

 

This must be fixed by HP asap
