Hi can anyone help I seem to have a ribbon on the right hand side of the cartridge carrier off and I don't know where it connects back to can any one help

To assist you better, kindly send a picture of the ribbon you are referring to. 

 

To know how to insert the ink cartridges, refer to - Replace HP inkjet printer cartridges

 

If you mean a translucent tape from inside the printer, that is the encoder strip that helps the carriage to move. If this is damaged or come off, this is a hardware issue and cannot be fixed. Refer to this document - Carriage jam or E3 error

In this case, please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the service/replacement options for your printer. 

You may create a case on the website to obtain a case number if required. Kindly watch this video to know how.
