I had changed my color cartridge and was aligning it, but had to go into another room for ten minutes or so, right before I was to scan the page I just printed. When I came back, it said the alignment had failed, because I didn't scan it on time. Afterwards I tried to do it again and again, but from this point on the printer would not print the color red (it was printed on the original alignment sheet) and nothing I try works (cleaning it, re-aligning it, etc). It's a new cartridge and it was working, briefly. What happened?

At this point I suggest you contact HP Support in your region for service options

 

1) Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/ 
2) Select your product type below.
3) Enter the serial of your device. 
4) Select the country from the drop-down. 
5) Select the chat or get phone number options based on your preferences. 
6) Fill the web-form and proceed further.

Thank you for the advice, but HP wouldn't help me because my warranty expired. I wound up just buying another cartridge. Now I know not to leave the printer until after the sheet has scanned!
