My MFP M281cdw Laserjet printer no longer recognizes aftermarket toner cartridges. I can only assume that is because the printer automatically installed a firmware update that renders the printer useless without HP cartridges. I found a Youtube video showing how to download and install firmware version 20200612 to correct the problem but that video is 3 years old (long before Windows 11) and I think Windows 11 won't install it because it doesn't recognize the .RFU file extension. How can HP keep doing this?!?!? I'm beyond frustrated and angry. What is my solution - go back to HP cartridges or switch brands and never buy HP anything again? I hope it doesn't come to that !!

Can you share a link to that youtube video you are reffering, I doubt they youtuber managed to send RFU to that printer model.
RFU that printer model doesn't support RFU.
Do you have an old firmware version?

Thank you!
