My printer has good supply levels but prints extremely faded, both colour and black/white. The diagnostic page shows the extremely faded colours. The toner cartridges are original HP products.

It's the dirty laser optics, I have repaired more than a 50 of these with the same issue, it was always the laser.

Good luck wasting time and money on replacing toner cartridges, let me know when the print quality gets back to normal.

Hello @ratisbona ,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Print out the report, Supplies status, scan this page and upload here, click on the icon "Insert photos", "Set format = Large", original size at least 300 KB.
But before you must remove or delete the personal data and printer serial number on the printout.

Kind Regards

1. pictures deleted because location data was transferred via Apple iPhone!

2. comparison of 2 supplies status reports

Proposal:
Perform calibration, see Cyan.
If the quality does not improve, continue to use the printer with this result.

Or buy 4 new cartridges, but original HP cartridges with original HP toner!

You are currently using re-fill cartridges!

Kind Regards

@ratisbona What is printer environment? If you smoke or have a dusty environment the laser optic get dirty and you get faded print like yours.

I was also perplexed by the Supply Status report. The toner cartridges are original HP. My last printer was wrecked by using refilled cartriges, so with this one, I have only used originals (at enormous expense). So why are they not recognised by the system properly? Calibration has made no different. I have a full set of new cartridges but I am loathed to open them and potentially waste nearly €500 if I have to buy a new printer anyway...

This is a good question. Nobody here smokes but my apartment is on a main street and it does get very dusty. Would there be any way to clean the laser optic?

HP Recommended

Disassembling the printer, removing laser, and clean, it's not user friendly job.

Therefore, complain about all cartridges.
